The performance of Edita Prima, one of Edita Group’s business areas, has been evaluated for the first time using the global EcoVadis responsibility system. The company received a top result in the evaluation and is ranked in the gold class, that is, in the top five percent of all evaluated companies.
The independent evaluation is supervised by an international scientific committee. Corporate responsibility is assessed in four different areas: the environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement.
According to Managing Director Heikki Autio, the result is an award for Edita Prima’s long-term responsibility work.
‘Companies have an essential role in society as responsible actors. Responsibility can no longer be a stand-alone reporting method, but the desire to improve working and living environments must be reflected in everyday activities. The evaluation received by Edita Prima is an award to our skilled and committed staff. The result encourages us to further develop our operations and services to reduce harm to the environment, for example,” says Heikki Autio.
Established in 2007, EcoVadis is one of the world’s largest providers of sustainability assessments. Its methodology is based on international standards for sustainable development, such as the GRI guidelines, the UN Global Compact initiative and the ISO 26000 standard. EcoVadis has evaluated more than 100,000 companies in more than 175 countries in total, and evaluations have been conducted in more than 200 different industries.
